Where did July go?

As I flip to August on the calendar, I am seriously wondering where July went. I don't know what happened to my grandiose plans of a fun, New York City staycation. I didn't do anything touristy - just basically acted like a bum with teacher friends. Who knows.. maybe next month, I'll realize it was the perfect, lazy staycation I needed after all.

I am leaving on the 17th. My apartment is mostly packed up with some random things lying about. I am getting stressed out about what to bring, what to toss, what to donate and what to store at the parents' house. Others who are going abroad right now "get it" but others just say, "What's so stressful? Just pack!" A couple of friends graciously offered to do a packing party with me - but I cannot even begin to think about what should go where. Perhaps I'll have a "throw everything in boxes" party instead.

It's funny - I'm not that all that invested in organizing myself, when normally I'm an organizing freak. I have been spending time with friends, family and working on ways to stay in touch. I bought an internet phone connection, I bought a new point-and-shoot camera so that I can take small videos. I also intend to have it on me at all times to capture any amusing moments I might come across.
